Because worship is more than just major chords, plastered smiles, raised hands, and warm fuzzies. Christians typically gather for one hour each week. Only instead of leveling with the pain and suffering in our existence, we perpetually sweep it under the metaphorical carpet.
What if we gave space for all our language about God: “You are with me” and “I can’t find you.” Instead of shouting to the Lord, what if we shouted at the Lord? Instead of opening the eyes of our hearts, what if we opened the eyes on our face?
This is the other side of worship. And it’s what we’ve needed all along.
